Children from the district of Malburgen (Arnhem) are saving for a new bridge. Not with money, but with waste plastic. The municipality of Arnhem was immediately enthusiastic when this initiative was created in collaboration with Save Plastics.
In their own neighbourhood, the children went looking for litter, together with the children’s neighbourhood team. The waste plastic that they collected was processed by Save Plastics into, among other things, planks with which a new bridge was built in the neighborhood. In this way litter was used as a raw material for products that the municipality already needed.
An initiative that can easily be scaled up: the municipality of Arnhem can purchase countless products for the outdoor space in this way. In this way, education, collection and recycling go hand-in-hand.
