SROI
Everyone deserves a chance.
At Save Plastics, we care about our environment. Of course, that concerns our environment, but it’s just as much about people. We believe that everyone should be able to participate. That’s why we give people with a distance to the labor market the opportunity to work and develop themselves at Save Plastics.
Save has achieved PSO level 3
We are proud to have reached level 3 on the PSO ladder in 2023. This means that we are a frontrunner in terms of employment for people with vulnerable positions in the labor market. Companies, including Save Plastics, belong to the top 10% best-performing companies in the Netherlands when it comes to social entrepreneurship.
PSO
The Performance Ladder Social Entrepreneurship (PSO) is the measuring instrument and quality mark of TNO that objectively measures and makes visible the degree of social entrepreneurship. TNO and PSO-Netherlands have, in close collaboration with the market, developed and refined the PSO according to the latest scientific insights since 2010. The PSO has now grown into the national standard for social entrepreneurship.
What is SROI?
Social Return is aimed at getting people with a significant gap to the labor market back to work. In the Netherlands, as many as 1.3 million people fall into this target group. Social return is also referred to in full as ‘social return on investment’ and is also known by the abbreviations SR and SROI.
How does it work?
Government procurers, when awarding contracts, can encourage or require the contractor to involve vulnerable groups in the labor market in the execution of the contract. By implementing social return, the government ensures that an investment made, in addition to the ‘regular’ return, yields tangible social benefits. By employing people with a distance to the labor market, a social return value is created that can be deducted from the social return obligation. Accountability is managed through a social return monitoring system.
Why is it important?
Each public contracting authority has its own policy, including when it comes to social return. A contractual condition is included in the tender to spend a portion of the contract value to reduce the distance to the labor market for people from specific target groups. This gives people who are often not the first choice another chance in the labor market and saves public contracting authorities the costs of benefits.
At Save Plastics, we see it as our duty to make a social impact.
